Drops On A Penny Science Experiment
– 2 pennies - water - dropper - dishsoap
Materials Needed:
Using a dropper or pipette, measure how many drops of water a penny will hold before it overflows.
Step 1
In our experiment the penny held 22 drops of water before the surface tension broke and the water overflowed.
Step 2
Now add dishsoap to some water and repeat the experiment. You will find the soapy water overflows much more quickly.
Step 3
When soap is added to water it lowers the surface tension and breaks up much more quickly.
