Shaving Cream Rain Clouds 🌧ages 4 and Up 🌧
Looking for a simple science experiment you can easily do at home but will amaze the kids? Well, look no further because shaving cream rain clouds is a fun, simple science experiment to teach kids a little about the weather (or just have lots of fun mixing colors and watching them fall through the shaving cream and into the water). We have done this experiment numerous times and it NEVER GETS OLD! Even I am amazed and mesmerized at the results!
MATERIALS NEEDED:

- Medium sized glass vase or jar (We used a square jar but a round one would work as well.)
- Food coloring (the more colors the better and we recommend using liquid colors as opposed to gel)
- Shaving cream
- Water
- Droppers
WHAT TO DO TO MAKE SHAVING CREAM RAIN CLOUDS:
Follow these instructions to make your own shaving cream rain clouds.
1. Start by filling the glass vase about 3/4 full of water.
2. Fill the rest with shaving cream.
3. Add some drops of food coloring in lots of different colors. You will start to see the color weaving it’s way through the shaving cream cloud and into the water.
4. We made a big cloud and it was taking a while, so to speed up the process we started adding some plain water to the clouds to make them heavier and more likely to start dropping the water. It worked and pretty soon lots of beautiful streaks of colors were making their way into the water.
WHY IT HAPPENS:
As the water gets too heavy for the “cloud” it begins to release it into the “atmosphere” aka water, therefore, creating rain. ☔
