In this cool science experiment, we are going to show you how to make an egg stand up straight seemingly all by itself….almost like magic!
First check out the below video where Nate will show you the experiment in action:
MATERIALS NEEDED:
- 1 raw egg in the shell
- A pinch of table salt
WHAT TO DO:
- First try standing the egg straight up and it will always fall on its side.
- Then sprinkle a little salt on a hard, flat surface and place the egg on the salt. It may take a few tries, but the egg will stand straight up!
- Blow away the excess salt and the egg appears to be standing on its own!
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
The egg is able to stand up straight because the salt crystals are almost perfect cubes and they form a sort of pedestal to hold up the egg. So cool! 👍🏻
