Mad Libs for Kids

When I was growing up we always took long road trips during the summer and one of my most vivid and cherished memories was sitting in the backseat of our car, doing Mad Libs with my sister.  We would laugh hysterically at the stories we completed.  I am so excited to be partnering with Penguin Kids to remind you all that Mad Libs for Kids are still an awesome option to keep kids entertained, learning and engaged during the summer months and all year round! #sponsored

How to Do Mad Libs

Mad Libs are very simple and you can play by yourself, with a partner or a group!  Simply fill in the blanks with the part of speech requested on the page.  It may be a noun, a verb, an adjective, an animal, a body part or something else.

Once all the blanks have been filled in the story is ready to be told. Simply read the story including the words that were written in and get ready to laugh!  For younger kids, the parent or teacher can lead the activity by filling in the blanks and reading the story.  I love that it’s an activity that can be done with kids of all ages and with parents!

Why are Mad Libs Educational?

Mad Libs are an excellent way for kids to learn and practice parts of speech.  From nouns to adjectives to verbs and adverbs, kids will find themselves practicing parts of speech over and over while having tons of fun! And Mad Libs Junior is a great option for younger kids because they give kids choices to use for the various parts of speech and the choices provided are HILARIOUS!

I love finding ways we can play together as a family and Mad Libs is a perfect, screen-free option.  The books are lightweight and easy to carry in my handbag and are a perfect way to pass the time when we are in a waiting room, a restaurant or on a train. Honestly, the biggest problem I find is that my kids are laughing so loud I sometimes need to quiet them in public! But I’ll take those problems any day of the week!
