Geomag Mechanics Gravity Up and Down Set 💡 ages 7+ 💡 Future engineers rejoice! In our continuing partnership with Geomag, we are able to show you some of the coolest STEM toys out there!
This building set by Geomag allows kids to build an actual gravity motor that continues to run without electricity based on the movement of the magnetic spheres through the set. My oldest son waffles between wanting to be an engineer or a builder so I knew this would be a perfect building set for him!

The 330-piece set was challenging but achievable to assemble so it occupied my 9-year-old for about 2 hours just doing assembly. He made a few mistakes and had to go back, but the great thing about this set is that the pieces are not hard to take apart and reassemble. I love that the set can also be easily disassembled, stored in the original box and then reassembled another day.
Once the set was completely assembled, Nate started the spheres moving through the motor and it was amazing to see them move up and down the spirals and keep moving on their own. The weight of the spheres keeps the system operating. What a great way to demonstrate sustainable energy and the fundamental principles of physics!
This set is definitely for older kids, ages 9-14 would be ideal in my opinion, but if you want a fun building project to do together with a younger child it could be a great activity for kids as young as 6.
