We love all things Crayola but they have really outdone themselves this time with their Color Chemistry Lab Set and we are so excited to be partnering with Crayola to show you this amazing science set!
My boys love doing science experiments so when we opened the box and saw all the beakers, droppers and colors they were ready to get busy. The set comes with an easy-to-read instruction booklet that includes instructions for 15 experiments that can be done right out of the box and 35 experiments that can be completed with common household items you likely have around the house already. That’s 50 STEAM-infused experiments total that allow our young scientists to explore color like never before!
Items included in the set are:
• Experiment Guide
• Volcano Core
• Graduated Cylinder
• 2 Color Mixing Pot Strips
• 5 Bottles of Colored Ink (Magenta, Cyan, Yellow, Black & White)
• Paint brush
• 2 Packs of Model Magic
• 12 Fizzy tabs
• 10 Paper Disks
• Glow alginate
• Calcium Chloride
• Pipette
• Slime part A/ part B
• Beaker
• 2 Nozzle caps
• Display jar
• Color Wheel
• Benham Wheel
• Disk Spinner
The first thing my boys wanted to make was the exploding volcano (probably because it’s featured prominently on the front of the box)! The volcano is really unique because first the boys got to build the volcano from packs of Crayola Model Magic that’s included in the set. Then once the volcano was built, they were able to paint and personalize their volcano. Finally, they added the fizzy tabs and warm water and the volcano started to erupt!
Next they wanted to make glow worms which are so easy to make and the worms really do glow in the dark!
They also loved using a piece of string and salt to lift ice cubes out of a bowl. They just couldn’t believe it worked and repeated the Ice Fishing Experiment over and over and over!
Some of their other favorites were the Swirling Colors in Motion Experiment, the slime experiments, the spinning color wheel and the chromatography experiment. With so many to do, we haven’t even made it all the way through the booklet which has made it a toy we’ve returned to many times and has provided hours of entertainment! The guide also includes questions to ask kids about what is happening so you can engage them even further and get them thinking about why things work the way they do.
Check out the below video to see an erupting volcano, swirling colors, glow worms and other experiments in action!
Did I mention the set is only $24.99?!?! I’m actually stocking up as I think this is a perfect birthday gift for friends!
