Bread Clips are one of our favorite repurposed materials for learning activities! We have a set with letters and a set with numbers on them. Today we are using them to help Oliver practice his math facts. We call the activity Bread Clip Math Facts.
MATERIALS NEEDED FOR BREAD CLIP MATH FACTS: (affiliate links)
- Bread clips
- Permanent marker
- Removable hooks – we got ours at Lakeshore Learning but similar ones are available on Amazon.
- Chalkboard
- Chalk
HOW TO SET UP BREAD CLIP MATH FACTS:
1. Start by writing numbers 1-10 on bread clips using a permanent marker.
2. Place the removable hooks on a chalk board (or dry erase board would work well too). You will need 13 hooks to do the activity exactly as we did (10 hooks for the numbers and 3 hooks for the math fact answers).
3. Place the bread clips on ten of the hooks in numbered order (this in itself is a great activity for the child).
4. Using chalk, add math symbols between the math fact hooks.
4. Now place two numbers on the math fact hooks and ask the child to find the correct answer.
5. Once the child is comfortable with the process he or she can make up math fact problems and solve on their own.
This activity is not only great for learning math, but an excellent fine motor activity as well!

We are kind of obsessed with these removable hooks. They can easily be added and removed from any surface and I have so many ideas to use them in future activities!
